The Heart of Tabitha Foundation | Community Response

Silver Spring, Maryland--The Heart of Tabitha Foundation, a Maryland Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Charitable Corporation, in partnership with On the Purple Couch is delighted to announce our “1st Annual Prom Dress Drive” quite a success in supporting local high school girls with their pre-graduation celebration by providing them a prom dress, accessories, and several makeovers from local beauty salons.
The request was made and we are so happy to say thank you to our community and partners for answering the call. We were able to provide over 100 prom dresses for girls from all over Montgomery County and our neighboring Prince Georges County. What a wonderful event.
The Heart of Tabitha Foundation really can't thank you enough for your kind donations. To the girls that came out and picked out their special dress, we thank you for visiting us at “On the Purple Couch”. We really had fun. Lets do it again next year. Until then enjoy, don’t forget the reward of giving, and always remember the faithful quote:
"To whom much is given much is required!” The passion of giving is such a wonderful feeling!

Ms. Gwynne | Appreciative ParentOur experience with visiting the ladies of Heart of Tabitha Foundation:
The week of the prom, my teenage daughter, Kiva, was still looking for a dress! We didn't have much money to spend and were going from thrift store to thrift store, without any luck. We had heard that there was an organization called Heart of Tabitha that had arranged a prom dress drive at a local consignment store, On the Purple Couch, so we went over there to find that the prom dress drive was over and that dresses had been redistributed to other places. But the wonderful lady that owns the shop, called Patricia from Heart of Tabitha to find out if we could get to those redistributed dresses and look through some of them. Unfortunately, the answer was no, but Patricia spoke directly to me on the phone and told me that Heart of Tabitha had received a monetary donation with the sole purpose of making a girl's prom dream come true. So Patricia said that if we could meet her at Wheaton Mall in 20 minutes, she would shop with us to find the perfect prom dress for Kiva. Oh my gosh! I couldn't believe it! We drove over to Wheaton Mall, met Patricia, and shopped for two hours, but had no luck finding the perfect dress. Patricia was amazing. She was enthusiastic, kind, encouraging, and never once made us feel that were taking up her time. At the end of our unsuccessful shopping trip, Patricia offered to buy us a Visa gift card so that we could shop on our own and purchase a dress with the donated money. We were able to find a dress on-line and had it rushed delivered. It was the perfect dress for Kiva. I cannot thank Heart of Tabitha Foundation enough, and especially Patricia, for giving not just the money, but her time, energy, and extreme patience as we were walking around the mall. What a gift to have met Patricia and to know about Heart of Tabitha Foundation. Ms. Gwynne Appreciative Parent |

3800 Howard Avenue Kensington, Maryland 20895 Subject: Statement of Accomplishments Reference: Jazmyn McKoy Tuesday, August 14, 2012 Dear Sir/Madam: This letter is to attest to the unselfish accomplishments rendered by Jazmyn McKoy over the past three years for and on the behalf of a family in need through their grandmother. Under the direction of the staff from the LOM Foundation, Jazmyn has donated clothing, gift certificates along with her time and talent in order to assist these young children who are recipients of her generosity. Because of her intervention, both girls are now enjoying a safe and productive childhood without concerns regarding their school supplies and/or clothing. Moreover, Jazmyn plans to continue her relationship with the family, especially with the girls in providing peer mentoring and resources for them in the coming future. Again, we salute her in doing well for the under-served youth in our community as she displays a model of integrity and perseverance in a world of many challenges for our young people. I Am, Dr. Elwood Gray, Jr. |
